How fast can one lose weight on the Smart for LifeTM Program?
A compliant client can expect to lose between 10-12 pounds every month. However, results vary from person to person. Don’t be surprised if you lose more! How do your clients maintain their weight loss?We recommend that you use a weekly weight loss journal for weekly weigh-ins. This creates behavior reinforcement. The hunger suppressing meal replacements change eating behavior so that clients are eating several small, high protein meals each day, which most doctors and nutritionists recommend as the proper way to eat. Additionally, we educate you with the most up-to-date scientifically based health information through our monthly newsletter and unlimited one on one weight loss counseling. Once you've reached your goal weight, you have the healthy frame of mind and strategies that you need to keep the weight off. What are the health benefits of losing weight?For overweight individuals, losing weight as little as 5 to 10% can improve health by lowering high blood pressure, blood glucose levels and cholesterol levels. How many calories will I be consuming?Your energy, or calorie needs depend on a number of factors, including your current weight, activity level, age and gender. Your specific weight loss goal, and time commitment, will be combined with other factors to create your ideal 1000-1200 calorie per day meal plan. Your weight loss consultant can help you determine the proper calorie level for you Do I have to eat all my cookies?All cookies or equivalents and the dinner meal should be eaten because the body needs a minimum amount of calories for optimum performance. The deficit of only one cookie can result in slowing down or shutting down of the body’s metabolism which could actually stop weight loss. We are supplying the amount of protein the body needs daily. If the body does not receive enough protein through the diet it does not get it from the fat stores, it goes to the protein stores, which are muscles. What is BMI and why is it important?Body Mass Index (BMI) is a number calculated from a person’s weight and height. It provides a reliable indicator for most people and is used to screen for weight categories that may lead to health problems. Since BMI is governed by this weight to height ratio, every body type has a different ideal BMI. An average BMI is between 19 and 24. How do your clients maintain their weight loss?We recommend that you weight yourself weekly and use a journal to keep track of your weight loss, creating behavior reinforcement. If I lose weight, would it make a difference in my high blood pressure or the medication I take to treat it?Yes, weight loss actually helps reduce high blood pressure- sometimes to a level where you could reduce or even eliminate your blood pressure medication entirely. Can losing weight lower my blood sugar?Yes, losing weight can lower your blood sugar if you have type 2 diabetes. Just a 10% weight loss can greatly affect your blood sugar and possibly even minimize your use of diabetic medications. Can I reduce high cholesterol by losing weight?Yes, you can boost your chances of lowering your cholesterol with a three – prong approach: modify your fat intake, exercise regularly and lose weight. Can being overweight make me more susceptible to cancer?It can increase your risk for many different cancers, including colon, breast and endometrial cancer. I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea, which causes me to snore a lot and sometimes stop breathing during sleep. Will it help if I lose weight?For those with sleep apnea, even modest weight reduction may alleviate the need for long – term therapy or upper – airway surgery. Is my excess weight ruining my joints?It is difficult for the natural cushions in our joints to withstand extra body weight. Losing weight can reduce the wear and tear on your joints. What is your return policy?Due to the nature of our product, the FDA regulations state we are unable to accept returns of any food products.
